The German Association of Applied Linguistcs (GAL e.V.) in co-operation with the University Duisburg-Essen and Congress Center Essen (CCE) was proud to host

PIGMAN

In cooperation with the Helmholtz Gymnasium in Essen some of our students have been doing a project based on Paul Zindel's novel The Pigman. One of the results is an Internet page, which you can see here.

 

MOVIES AND CLIPS

Following the successful completion of the Pigman Project, the pupils and their teacher, Ms Osieck, agreed to get involved in yet another internet activity. This time, the task was to create webpages on movies and video-clips.

ENCOUNTER

Students from the Burg Gymnasium did this encounter project in cooperation with students from the university. They interviewed the foreign staff members of our department on their attitude towards Essen and the Ruhrgebiet.


MEDIA LITERACY

In cooperation with the Helmholtz-Gymnasium a project on Media-Literacy created web-pages on two movies. The Matrix and Save the Last Dance. The results can be viewed here.


TASK-BASED LESSON PLANS

Teacher training students from Essen and Heidelberg collaborated via the Internet to develop lesson plans on the novel HOLES (Louis Sachar), and on aspects of cultural life in Australia.
