Rasha El Khateeb studied English at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt (1991-1995) and received her MA in General Linguistics and Applied English Linguistics from the University of Tübingen, Germany (2005-2009).  She has five years of experience as an EFL teacher/instructor at different schools, language institutes and universities in Egypt.She worked for three years as a Research and Evaluation Program Officer in the international developmental organization The Academy for Educational Development, (Integrated English Language Program-II), a USAID funded project.  In 2008, she got employed in the same organization as a Reporting and Documentation Specialist in the Education Reform Project. In 2003, Rasha presented "Learners as Citizens of WebCT" in the electronic village of the TESOL conference in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. At the moment, she is pursuing her PhD degree with the title: “Using Corpora to Develop the Speaking Skills of English Learners: A Comparative Study”.  Her interests focus mainly on autonomous learning, Computer Assisted Language Learning and if culture affects learning strategies.

Langosch, Malgorzata

Malgorzata Langosch received her MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, Poland (2000-2005). From 2004 until 2005 she worked as a language assistant at many language institutions and schools in Poznan, Poland. She worked as a German and an English teacher and translator alongside her studies. Currently, she is a PhD student at the Institute for Anglophone Studies in Applied Linguistics and Didactics  at the University Duisburg Essen.

Since 2008, Malgorzata Langosch has been working as a lecturer at the Institute for Optional Studies (IOS), University Duisburg Essen, teaching English grammar and German as a Foreign Language (DaF: Communication at the workplace, DaF: Writing, DaF: Speaking).  Furthermore, she is a teacher for the English courses at the German adult education centre in her hometown, Rheinberg.

In April 2010 she completed her additional qualification in German as a Foreign Language (DaZ/DaF). At the moment, she is also pursuing her PhD degree with the title: „ Computerunterstützte Lernszenarien am Beispiel von interkulturellen Podcasts im Unterricht Deutsch und Englisch als Fremdsprache". Her interests focus mainly on the use of the media in second language teaching.

Christian Ludwig studied English and Spanish at the University of Bochum (2002-2006), at the University of Córdoba (2006-2007) and at the University of Duisburg-Essen (2007-2010). From September 2008 until May 2009 he worked as a language assistant at Desborough School, Maidenhead, England. During his time as a student he worked as a student assistant in the Department of Anglophone Studies (Applied Linguistics and Didactics, Chair Prof. Dr. Bernd Rüschoff). Additionally, he worked as a student assistant for AILA 2008. In 2009, he also worked as a relief teacher at Gesamtschule Meiderich. Quite recently (2010), he completed his First State Exam for German Secondary Schools (Gymnasium/ Gesamtschule) and his additional qualification in German as a Foreign Language (Interkulturelle Pädagogik, DaZ/DaF). At the moment, he is also pursuing his "Hochschuldidaktikzertifikat".

At present, Christian Ludwig teaches in the field of EFL methodology and linguistics. His main areas of research are learner autonomy and literature in the foreign language classroom with a special interest in graphic novels. In the context of graphic fiction he is especially interested in the construction of American and Asian identity in comics. This includes, apart from the life of Asian immigrants in the USA, Japanese and Korean history and culture. Furthermore, he is pursuing his PhD degree with the provisional title: “The Use of Comics in the Foreign Language Classroom: Graphic Novels in Second Language Acquisition Processes and Intercultural Learning”.

Dominik Rumlich studied English and Geography at the University of Duisburg-Essen and at Waikato University in Hamilton, New Zealand, and completed a teacher's degree for German secondary schools (Gymnasium/Gesamtschule). Due to his outstanding results he was acknowledged as the best graduate by the Zentrum für Lehrerbildung of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Summer 2009.
    At present, Dominik Rumlich teaches in the fields of EFL and (quantitative) research methodology and offers courses on Aotearoa, New Zealand, with a particular focus on linguistics and cultural studies. The PhD thesis he is currently preparing stems from the area of Content and Language Intregrated Learning (aka CLIL, aka "bilingual teaching"), rendering it his primary field of research. In his longitudinal quasi-experimental study, he examines the development of both CLIL and non-CLIL students' attitudes, their motivation and linguistic competence. His special study design also takes into account the so-called "creaming effect" caused by the selection processes that govern the allocation of pupils to CLIL and non-CLIL strands.
