Essen is located in the center of the Ruhr area, easily accessible by international trains, international buses, and airplane. The international airport of Dusseldorf is about 30 km away and easily accessible by train connections. Essen offers a variety of cultural venues, like an opera, museums and musicals. It will be the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010. The University of Duisburg-Essen is one of the major German Universities with about 35,000 students and most scientific disciplines.
