Books Donated to the Duisburg East Asian Studies Library
Prof. Susan Hanley has sent several boxes of books from the personal collection of her late husband, Prof. Kozo Yamamura, to Prof. Werner Pascha, for inclusion in the IN-EAST library
Prof. Susan Hanley, Emerita Professor of Japanese Studies and History at the University of Washington, Seattle, has sent several boxes of books from the personal collection of her late husband, Prof. Kozo Yamamura, Job and Gertrud Tamaki Emeritus Professor of Asian Studies and Economics at the University of Washington, to Prof. Werner Pascha of IN-EAST, for inclusion in the IN-EAST library. Prof. Yamamura was a prolific scholar and writer who also co-edited several books with a perspective on comparing Japan, Germany and the US. Both scholars have long-lasting connections with our institute, as Prof. Yamamura was a visiting professor in Duisburg during the founding years of East Asian Studies at the former University of Duisburg. IN-EAST News published an obituary about Prof. Yamamura on its website in early 2017. Prof. Günter Heiduk, emeritus professor of international economics at Duisburg University and a leading mover of establishing Duisburg’s East Asia acitivities in those years, helped to arrange this donation.
