It is obligatory for German students to stay abroad for a period of 3 to 6 months.
During this time the students can:
- participate in lectures at a university and earn credits by passing the examinations, or
- work on their final thesis, or
- do their industrial internship at a company to serve the obligatory professional practical training.

Scholarship
One possibility of financing your stay abroad is a scholarship. There are several possibilities of getting a scholarship. Also getting BAföG for your stay abroad is possible, even if you do not get any BAföG at the moment. Also the DAAD is offering scholarships.
