ENTRAPTM Impact Attenuation Pack : From Lab to Pre-Commercialisation
ENTRAPTM is the trademark for the impact attenuation system developed by a group of researchers from the Faculty of Engineering, UKM, Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering UTeM and the Strategic Technology and Innovative Defence Division of the Ministry of Defence Malaysia. The presentation traces its development from a PhD research on indigenous materials from South East Asia in impact attenuation, to pre-commercialisation. Further research from the PhD work saw it tested for higher levels of impact and energy absorption capacities. The current prototype developed consists of vests for men and women wearers filled with proprietary materials . The vests are designed and fabricated jointly with a leading Indonesian manufacturer of impact garments specialising in the defence sector . The proprietary materials are fabricated in Malaysia with other fabricators.
