About 80 professors and more than 450 scientific employees of the faculty focus the research activities in eleven major areas which are mostly organized chair-comprehensively and interdepartmentally and, besides, collaborate with the five affiliated institutes, two cooperating institutes and the economy partners.

The Faculty of Engineering Sciences enjoys international recognition in many disciplines. Our scientists are at the cutting edge of research in nanotechnology, environmental engineering, the automotive industry (particularly combustion processes) and electronics. Their results are followed with great interest across the globe. Engineers from our faculty are at the forefront in the development of ship propulsion, optimizing mobile communication, building sciences, media technology and optoelectronics.
