Fieldwork in 2009

In August and September 2009 both teams returned to their field sites in Laixi (Shandong Province) and Suining (Sichuan Province), and Mizhi (Shaanxi Province) and Qingyuan (Zhejiang Province) respectively.
Already being familiar with the surroundings, the teams were able to gain first-hand knowledge of the year to year changes in the four locations. As the impressive modernization of rural China continues, the researchers from Duisburg and Tübingen managed to obtain an ever clearer picture of local policy-making and maneuvering in the field of state-led rural development.

Field Research in August 2008

In late August 2008 two teams, one led by Prof. Dr. Gunter Schubert and one by Prof. Dr. Thomas Heberer will conduct fieldwork in China. The team of Gunter Schubert will go to Mizhi County and Qingyuan County. Thomas Heberers team will visit Laixi City and Suining City.
