TEACHING:
In winter semester 2003/4 the University of Duisburg-Essen’s required cross-section lecture on “Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Complementary Medicine” was held for the first time. It consists of 28 lectures per semester and 2 workshop seminars. From winter semester 2005/6 onwards, students across Germany must attend a course of lectures in this field and pass the exam associated with it.
25 medical students are currently working on their doctorate theses. These cover the entire spectrum of topics relevant to TCM and complementary medicine. Since the end of 2002, as part of the further training of interested practising doctors, a regular TCM quality assessment workshop has been conducted additionally. There are further plans for a TCM training course for interested medical students, organised in close cooperation with the University of TCM in Shanghai, and a postgraduate training course in TCM.
Research can be split into three areas: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Classical Naturopathy and Mind/Body Medicine, Lifestyle Changes. |
