TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)

The Department has an outpatients’ clinic for complementary and Traditional Chinese Medicine providing not only acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy and Qi Gong but also Tuina massage therapy and TCM diet counselling. An individual therapy plan is drawn up for each patient.

In a project commissoned by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia quality control criteria have been developed to create a certification system for TCM centers.
The Chair is offering lectures and workshops in TCM and doctoral theses are supervised in current fields of basic and clinical science. Chinese physicians of Traditional Chinese Medicine can apply for a two-year scholarship to pursue a doctoral thesis at the University Duisburg-Essen. Applicants are required to have completed 7 years of study in TCM and have 8 years of experience working in the field, as well as profiency in English (for information see below)
