Scientist (f/m)
(Physics, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering)
(Salary level 13 TV-L, 100 %)


The job position is part of the EU project „BUONAPART-E“ (Better Upscaling and Optimization of Nanoparticle and Nanostructure Production by Means of Electrical Discharges) from the area NMP (Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies) in the 7th framework programme of the EU. The University Duisburg-Essen coordinates the project.

Job responsibilities:
Research in several of the following topics:
(50% of the working time):
- Optimisation of the synthesis of nanomaterials by means of electrical discharges
- Design, set-up and experimental testing of new synthesis facilities
- Characterisation of nanomaterials
- Performing numerical simulations of nanoparticle formation by means of Monte Carlo simulations
Project management:
(50% of the working time)
- Responsible for coordination and supervision of administrative tasks
- Preparation and evaluation of meetings and conferences
- Public relations and official representation of the project
- Supervision of project reporting
Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent level in Physics, Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Experience in one of the following areas: Aerosol technology, nanoparticle synthesis, plasma processes, modeling of disperse systems
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Knowledge of German is advantageous but not essential
- Experience with numerical simulations, CFD, LINUX, C or CUDA is advantageous
- Flexible personality having excellent organisational and communication skills, being zealous and dedicated

Starting date: 01.02.2012 under condition of definitive project start
Contract duration: 48 months under condition of successful interim project reviewing
