Workshop on Dynamics in Quasicrystals
Duisburg, Germany 04.12.01 to 07.12.01
There will be a Workshop on Dynamics in Quasicrystals in Duisburg at
the Gerhard-Mercator-Haus of the University of Duisburg. Our intention
is to unite both experimentalists and theoreticians in a synergistic discussion
on the different aspects of the dynamics of quasicrystals. Equal emphasis
will be laid on the two main directions:

Lattice dynamics, including thermal properties and relationship to phase
stability.
-
Atomic dynamics, including phason jumps, vacancies, atomic diffusion.
Our aim is to take stock on where we are and what where we want to go concerning
these questions. Especially important for us is to encourage co-operation
between different groups working in this field (especially but not exclusively
within the DFG Focus Programme an Quasicrystals) during and after this
workshop.
We are planning of a workshop of 20 to 25 participants. Efforts will
be made to encourage European participation (especially the former GDR-5).
Financial support will be limited to members of the SPQK and some invited
speakers. However, others are encouraged to participate as well.
