PhD Studies at the Institute of Sociology (IfS)

A precondition of pursuing PhD studies at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen is the willingness of a professor to supervise the dissertation on the basis of a PhD agreement. The relevant regulations are stipulated in the Promotionsordnung (exam regulation) of the Faculty for Social Sciences.
PhD students in Sociology have access to several complementary organizations that support them on the way to a successful completion of their dissertation. Among these are the network of PhD students (DoktorandInnennetzwerk der Gesellschaftswissenschaften (DokNet) and the interfaculty Werkstatt Wissenschaftskarriere.
