ADVANCED RESEARCH METHODS
The area "Advanced Research Methods" builds upon basic knowledge of methods of empirical social research to engage in the advanced study social survey research and techniques of statistical analysis and modeling. As part of this focus, methods central to the other two areas of advanced study are covered. The comparative analysis of cross-sectional and longitudinal data is supported through the study of complex statistical analysis techniques and hierarchical linear modeling, which enable an appropriate use of available quantitative data sets in economic and social research and official statistics at the national and international levels of analysis. Survey research is the main method for generating large samples of national and international data for economic, social and attitudinal research, typically utilized by the other two areas of advanced research. In order to improve the quality of research, a special course is devoted to the optimization of data quality. In this way, coherence is established between the areas "Survey Research and Statistics", enabling students to develop high competency in research methods.
