The university library was supplied with € 1.762.537 of tuition fees from central means in order to further improve the study conditions in the library.

The following measures have been achieved:

The in 2009 established reduced flat rate charge for interlibrary loans for students of the Duisburg-Essen University is still valid. The difference to the mandatory amount of € 1,50 is financed through this years tuition fees. 

PfeilContinuation of the free Campus delivery service (CaLD),
which means placing an order for lendable and available media from the libraries of the other campus as well as the taking back of media of the other campus.

The use of means from the tuition fees in the university library makes a considerable impact.

In 2010 the library was even more frequented as a place for learning and studying than in the years before (2006: 1,63 mill. users; 2007: 1,77 mill. users; 2008: 1,86 mill. users; 2009: 2,01 mill. users; 2010: 2,13 mill. users).

After the number of books and other media borrowed in 2009 increased by 7,8 %, there is another slight increase registered in 2010.

Also the free of charge campus delivery service (CaLD) is highly in demand. In 2010 about 117.000 orders have been processed (2009: 110.000; 2008: app. 90.000 orders).

Every year, the universities which demand tuition fees investigate customer satisfaction in line with the "Gebührenkompass". The questioning results show that students in Duisburg-Essen rate the use of tuition fees to improve library services significantly higher than in other universities.
