The CIM is acting as a central service for all members of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The CIM was founded in order to boost the core competences of the computing and media centres, the data processing unit of the administration and the library by merging them into one organisation.

Our aims, conceptions and work is based on three values:

Our tasks range from providing networks and servers, e-learning platforms, qualified consulting on all our e-services and e-learning, media and IT-support, to high-performance computing (HPC), training courses, support for spezial events and processes in the library and in the administration.

The CIM is present on both campusses of the university. Services, which demand staff presence are offered locally. All other services are offered from one campus for the whole university.
