The CIM is subdivided into departments and service groups.  At the top is central administration headed by the director This level also includes overall controlling. On the next level there are the three divisions ERP Enterprise Ressource Planning, IT-Infrastructure and Media and Customer Service. The division Projectmanagement and Cross Sectional Tasks is a multidisciplinary across-the-board division for central projects and projects from the other divisions. In addition to coordinating and seeing through projects from initiation to completion, the cross-sectional tasks public relations and security are also assigned to this division.

The divisions IT-Infrastructure and Media and Customer Service are organised into service groups.

The E-Competence Agency is the consulting agency of the ICM sector (a cooperation between CIM and UL).
