The CIM is providing comprehensive information-, communication- and media-services to render optimal support for researchers, lectures and students, but also to the administration. The CIM is established particularly to accomplish future oriented  requirements in a better way.

The CIM as an integrated service unit was established specifically to meet future IT and media challenges strategically.

The CIM as a central service unit is directly linked to the rectorate by the ICM board consisting of the prorector, the chancellor and the directors of the CIM and the University Library.

E-Competence is the consulting agency of the CIM and the UB. The Agency supports members of the university and its departments by consulting, coaching and brokering of experts and services from CIM and Libary.
