Research Project
Mechanisms of deregulated gene expression in Hodgkin lymphoma
Research Profile
The main interest of our group is in the analysis of human memory B cell generation and differentiation, in the biology and pathogenesis of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated diseases, and the pathogenesis of human B cell lymphomas.
We are especially interested in the pathogenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma. In current projects, we are analysing mRNA expression in Hodgkin cells and search for transforming events.
Given the emerging importance of deregulated expression of microRNAs in the pathogenesis of lymphomas and other tumours, we also study microRNA expression in microdissected Hodgkin cells to reveal the role of such non-coding RNAs in the pathogenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma and in the differentiation of the lymphoma cells, which is characterised by a global loss of the B cell phenotype.
