This is a picture of me from my undergraduate years
at Istanbul Bilgi University Math Department.
It is drawn by my teacher Ali Nesin who is the editor of the popular math magazine Matematik Dunyasi.

I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Arithmetic Geometry Group of University of Duisburg-Essen. I finished my PhD in mathematics at UW-Madison under the supervision of Nigel Boston.

Here is my Curriculum Vitae.

RESEARCH:

I am interested in algebraic number theory, elliptic curves, automorphic forms and Galois representations. In particular, I am working on the connection between Galois representations and automorphic forms in the setting of imaginary quadratic fields, especially from a computational perpective.

For projects and details see my Research Statement.

A list of my publications:

1. The nonexistence of certain representations of the absolute Galois group of quadratic fields ,   Proc. Amer. Math Soc. 137 (2009), 27-35.

2. Weight Reduction for Mod l Bianchi Modular Forms ,   with Seyfi Turkelli,   Journal of Number Theory. 129 (2009), 2010-2019

3. The deformation theory of Galois representations ,   in "The Proof of Fermat's Last Theorem" by Nigel Boston et. al.

4. Dimensions of Spaces of Bianchi Modular Forms,  with Nansen Petrosyan and Seyfi Turkelli, in progress.

5. A numerical study of mod p Bianchi modular forms and Galois representations,   preprint.

Here are some notes and expository papers:

1. Notes on Serre's Paper on Images of Galois Representations of Elliptic Curves ,   Mostly a (free) translation of some parts of Serre's 1972 Inventiones Paper
"Propriétés galoisiennes des points d'ordre fini des courbes elliptiques". I added some small explanations and a small appendix.

2. A survey of Serre's Conjecture over imaginary quadratic fields

BIANCHI MODULAR FORMS:

Bianchi modular forms (not a widely used name) are modular forms for GL(2) over imaginary quadratic fields. I am interested in both characteristic 0 and mod p aspects of these forms.

Here is a manuscript on Bianchi modular forms. It is taken from Chapter 1 and Chapter 7 of my thesis.

Here is a poster explaining some MAGMA programs I wrote to compute Bianchi modular forms and the Hecke action on them.

Here is the MAGMA script for the functions DIM and HECKE.

TEACHING:

I have many years of experience in teaching (at the levels of TA, Instructor and also Coordinator) undergraduate math classes of varying levels.

Here is my Teaching Statement.

I taught/coordinated Math 101 classes in 2008 spring semester. Here is the LINK to the webpage of the class.

Here is a review sheet I prepared for Math101 from previous semesters.
