Research Focus

The main research focus of the institute is on basic and applied research and includes different fields of ship technology in general as well as offshore technology.

Numerous research projects deal with the main problems raised by the maritime industry (seagoing ships, offshore structures and inland navigation) and for this purpose, numerical and experimental methods are developed and applied.

Field methods (CFD) and Boundary Element methods are used to solve problems in the field of fluid dynamics, in case of structural dynamics Finite-Element methods are used.

Research results are published in peer reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
