More about Farle work group

Study of magnetic properties of matter on the nanometer scale.

Our research group investigates the fundamental relationships between magnetic and electronic, structural and chemical properties of novel nanomaterials, which will be applied in future technologies in information processing as well as for efficient energy conversion in motors, generators and cooling units as well as in biomedical diagnosis and therapy.
Our focus is on experimental research, from which we want to develop an understanding of the magnetic interactions from the atomic level up to macroscopic phenomena.  For this purpose we use and develop the latest experimental methods for the magnetic characterization of both dynamic (picoseconds) and static parameters with a spatial resolution in the nanometer range.

In a team of about twenty students (bachelor, master), PhD students, experienced scientists and non-scientific staff, we conduct research in international networks and have access to the latest experimental methods.
