Emerging Concepts of Logistics

Call for Applications: ECoL Summer School 2014

The first Summer School on Emerging Concepts of Logistics (ECoL) will take place at the end of September 2014 in Istanbul. During a five day programme, Master and PhD candidates as well as Post-Docs are invited to discuss innovations in the interdisciplinary and service-oriented field of logistics. The ECoL network aims at integrating neighbouring disciplines; this means one does not necessarily have to be an educated logistician in order to apply for admission to the ECoL Summer School.

The summer school, conjointly organised by Koç University, Istanbul, and the University of Duisburg-Essen, will take place from the 22nd to the 26th of September 2014 on Koç University’s scenic campus in the North of Istanbul. It is the first of a whole series of events to establish the European ECoL network. The idea to connect experts on Emerging Concepts of Logistics evolved within the European project LOG4GREEN. This undertaking as a so called Regions of Knowledge initiative was set up to develop a joint research agenda on sustainable logistics. Now through ECoL, the groundbreaking collaboration of several European research projects will be made accessible to a wider audience and to extended expert groups. Long term goal of the ECoL network is to initiate and strengthen partnerships and therefore to intensify research on ECoL topics.
