GRK 1240: Nanotronics – Photovoltaics and Opto-electronics from Nanoparticles (2006-2011)

The concept of the research training group based at the University of Duisburg-Essen is based on three pillars: interdisciplinary training, innovative research, and cooperation with industry. Participants are looking at the scientific issue of how to convert light into electric energy and inversely, how to convert electric energy into light, with the aid of nanoparticles as functional building blocks. Large-area displays and photovoltaic cells are conceivable applications for this type of technology.
