• White, completely inorganic nanoparticle LEDs, QD LEDs, and ITO-free QD LEDs with a graphene electrode (SPIE 2014 Green Photonics Award for Solid State Lighting and Displays)
• Surface and thin layer analysis, contact-free 3D-surface characteristics according to
ISO 251718 with a resolution ≤ 1 nm
• LED measurement: analysis of the luminescence spectrum (CIE standard color system), efficiency, performance power (≤ 1 nW), luminance (<10^–3 cd/m² ), etc.

Working jointly with OSRAM GmbH, we are engineering largescale white LED prototypes based on inorganic nanostructures that can generate homogeneous luminescence over a large area. This work combines the strength and reliability of semiconductor nanocrystals with the flexible properties of organic light emitters, which can be applied as a broad surface coating on various substrates. For example, metal oxide nanoparticles are used for charge carrier injection and for charge carrier transport; graphene is used as a transparent electrode and quantum dots (QDs) as the active layer. Two of the most pressing priorities are to ensure that the selected materials have long-term stability and are environmentally safe. The processes that we employ are designed to be cost-effective and suitable for industrial applications. By working in direct collaboration with OSRAM, we are continuously testing and improving the industrial relevance.
