Coronavirus: 3G rules

Operational measures concept updatedCompulsory testing for non-immunised persons

With the Corona Protection Ordinance currently in force, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia wants to enable normality in everyday life - as far as the situation allows. Every institution and every offer should be open to vaccinated and recovered persons without neglecting the currently rising infection figures. The UDE has now updated its "operational measures concept" and the framework conditions for working at the university.

In addition to the general basic orientation, the standards for assessing the danger situation have also changed. The obligation to wear a mask indoors remains, but has been adapted more precisely to individual circumstances. ( According to the so-called "3G rules", a new requirement is that non-immunised persons must be tested as a prerequisite for participation in all indoor events: this includes courses, practicals, exercises, examinations or other forms of teaching as well as official meetings or committee meetings.

For special issues - such as dealing with presence examinations or conducting practical events - further concepts have been developed and are updated as the need arises.

The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance, which applies alongside the Corona Protection Ordinance, is expected to be amended by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on 10 September 2021. The planned modifications will enable managers to take the immune status of workers into account when implementing workplace infection control. The risk assessment will continue to be made in the individual work areas - however, presence solutions better adapted to the respective situation are possible.

The home office regulation expires on 30 September 2021 and is to be replaced for employees in technology and administration by the "mobile work" service agreement. The need for a comparable service agreement for academic and artistic staff is being examined.
