Compulsory Masks at the UDE

Mandatory MasksWhich mouth-nose protection must be worn and when?

Due to the high numbers of infections, wearing a well-fitting medical mouth-nose protection ("surgical mask"), in exceptions also a FFP2 respirator, is a good protective measure to counteract the risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Virus.

Regulations for Staff

A medical mouth/nose protection (surgical mask) is to be worn when entering the buildings and when moving in common areas (including corridors, stairwells, tea kitchens). In addition, it is to be used at the workplace in the following cases and can be obtained from the central store of the technical building management:

  • When several people come together at the workplaces.

During meetings or lectures, the lecturer may remove his mask if the prescribed minimum distance of 1.50 m to the next person is maintained.

The mouth-nose protection may be taken off, if persons are alone in their workroom or office, or if another effective protective measure is used (such as setting up protective screens with sufficient ventilation).

Regulation for Students

Medical mouth-nose protection (surgical mask) must be worn at all times while in the buildings. Exceptions are defined in the concepts for teaching or examinations.

Regulation for Teachers

In deviation from the rule for students, lecturers may remove the mask in lectures if they maintain a minimum distance of 1.50 m from the auditorium or behind protective screens.
