DFG – Research units

DFG – Research units

The German Research Foundation’s “Research groups” programme allows several outstanding scientists to work together on a research task. This opportunity to work in such close partnership can often help research groups to establish new working directions. There is, of course, a clear expectation here for the scientific quality and originality of the project to be at an international level, and for results to go beyond what would be expected with individual funding. These programmes generally run for six years (two periods of three years each).

In addition to the traditional research groups, there are also the “Clinical research groups” and “Postgraduate research groups in the humanities and social sciences”.
