Online Workshops for Doctoral Researchers

Within the Home Training Days series, we offer online training for UDE doctoral researchers of all disciplines. Our workshops allow you to further develop your personal and academic skills remotely.

The current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic requires a high degree of self-organisation and motivation. Our online workshops give you the opportunity to focus on a specific topic in a defined time frame and to exchange experiences with other doctoral researchers.

The dates are published quarterly. If you wish to suggest a workshop topic, please get in touch.

Registration and Participation

The registration phase begins three weeks before the workshop date and runs for seven days. Places are usually allocated according to the first-come, first-served principle. In individual cases, we reserve the right to make a selection in order to enable as many doctoral researchers as possible to participate in our programme. If you state your motivation or reasons for your participation in the comment field of the registration form, we will try to take this into account.

We will inform you shortly after the registration deadline whether you have a place in the workshop. In case of high demand, we will set up a waiting list.

Workshop Program January to March 2021

19 & 26 January 2021: Zeitmanagement

10–11 February 2021: Good Scientific Practice

The major objective of the workshop “Good Scientific Practice” is to provide specific knowledge on the topic of research ethics, allowing the participants to reflect their own guiding values and attitudes in their role as researchers.  The workshop furthers an understanding of the basic rules and values of the responsible conduct of research in all its stages, according to local, national and international regulations and guidelines. The participants will explore the differences and grey areas between good scientific practice, questionable research practice and scientific misconduct. They will learn how misconduct can be prevented and should be addressed and dealt with in case it occurs, and what damage it can cause if handled improperly. The participants are offered opportunities to acquire and practice the necessary skills on the proper handling of conflict situations for a responsible conduct of research. Participants are encouraged to discuss potential questions, ambiguities and doubts from their own research practice.
