Peer-Mentoring for Doctoral Researchers (UDE)

Peer Mentoring: Networking through your doctorate!

Our Peer Mentoring programme supports and motivates you as a doctoral researcher of the University of Duisburg-Essen in your academic work and promotes your academic career development. As a participant in the Peer Mentoring programme, you will expand your personal network and exchange experiences with other UDE doctoral researchers on interdisciplinary topics.

The Peer Mentoring groups are the basis for developing and establishing an interdisciplinary academic network. In group meetings, you will reflect on your personal career and improve your self-management. You will also have the opportunity to discuss the strategic direction of your academic career with a self-chosen expert.

How it works

The Peer Mentoring programme begins in the summer term and runs for one year. In addition to the kick-off event there will be three network meetings, which is followed by a fourth meeting to which a self-chosen expert is invited. The programme ends with a closing event.

The language of the programme will be determined with the participants in the kick-off event.

The application phase for the next programme line begins in February 2021. The number of participants is limited. Participants will be selected according to gender parity criteria. The second criterion is the interdisciplinary nature of the group.

All doctoral researchers of the University of Duisburg-Essen are eligible to apply, except researchers in the Medicine, as the Medical Faculty has its own mentoring programme due to the subject-specific challenges (www.uni-due.de/mediment).
