This course will explore the topics of gender, race, and class, by asking questions about them from the core areas of philosophy as it is practiced in the contemporary analytic Western tradition. We will ask the metaphysical question of what is gender, race, and class, the epistemological question of how we know about race, gender, and class, questions from the philosophy of language and mind of how we manage to talk and think about race, gender, and class, and finally, we will ask ethical questions these topics raise about how we ought to live. This course will be a seminar taught in English. Close engagement of the assigned articles will be expected from students, along with regular participation in class.
