Work-in-Progress-Workshop „Women beyond passive victimhood”

Start: 07.10.2019 00:00:00

Ende: 08.10.2019 00:00:00

Men are perpetrators, women are victims – this picture is constantly (re)produced as a norm for peace and conflict in daily perception. Not only media, but also stakeholders of civil society, policy institutions and academia use such static imagery. Even if women – especially as civilians – are often more affected by violence and war, the conference is going to address other, more active roles of women within issues of peace and conflict. Women are not only victims, but also combatants, supporters, collaborators as well as activists, stakeholders in political decision processes and peace missions and (co-)perpetrators of war crime. Therefore, the focus of this conference is on active roles that women take and the influence they generate.
