The Mercator School of Management and the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, invite applications for a full-time tenured position at the rank of Full Professor (Salary Group W2/W3) | Business and Economic Studies on East Asia
The Mercator School of Management and the Institute of East Asian Studies seek candidates with a strong foundation in management science or economics with demonstrated language and regional competence in either Chinese or Japanese Studies, a highly productive and international research career, documented by peer-reviewed publications, integration in the relevant academic peer groups as well as experience with third-party funded projects acquired in a competitive environment. They favour candidates who can contribute to the international research and graduate programs on institutional economics and institutional change in East Asia. The professorship contributes teaching in English and German to the degree programs of the Institute of East Asian Studies and the Mercator School of Management at the levels of BA, MA and doctoral studies. Candidates are expected to develop – supported by the university – a working knowledge of the German language within two years following the initial appointment.
The concept of East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen grounds regional studies research and teaching in the theories and methods of the social and economic sciences. The appointment is to the Mercator School of Management with membership in the Institute of East Asian Studies. The Institute of East Asian Studies and the Mercator School of Management offer an attractive and international research and teaching environment with a large network of cooperation partners in East Asia and Europe.
