Dr. Kazuaki Tarumi:
The Reality of Innovation Management – German-Japanese Experiences
Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2015, 14:45–16:00
Room: LB 335
Dr. Tarumi has studied physics at Waseda University, Tokyo and at the University of Bremen, finishing with a docotral degree in 1985, supported by a scholarship from the DAAD. He was an associate professor at Gunma University in Japan, before working for Merck KGaA since the 1990s. Among various functions, he was the department head for liquid crystals research at Merck for many years. He received numerous awards, including the "International Merck Innovation Award 2002" and the "Deutscher Zukunftspreis für Technik und Innovation" in 2003, granted by the German Federal President.
Based on his long years of practical experience, Dr. Tarumi will discuss the opportunities and challenges of cross-national innovation management. Issues include not only to generate new ideas and to create prototypes as "proof of concept", but also to prepare for market success. Both countries can learn from each other in that respect.
