Am 11. März 2014 jährte sich der Tag der Dreifachkatastrophe in Japan zum dritten Mal. Das Institut für Ostasienwissenschaften zeigt zu diesem Anlass in Kooperation mit dem Japanischen Kulturinstitut Köln (JKI) und der Japan Professional Photographers Society (JPS) die Fotoausstellung "??? IKIRU – Weiterleben!".

Die bewegenden Fotografien, aufgenommen von betroffenen Berufsfotografen und Amateuren, zeugen davon, wie sich das Leben der Menschen in der japanischen Küstenregion im Nordosten Japans innerhalb von Minuten komplett veränderte.
Die Ausstellung wird gesponsert vom Institut für Arbeit und Qualifikation (IAQ).

Three years have passed since devastating tsunami waves struck Japan, following the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. The Institute of East Asian Studies in cooperation with the Japan Foundation (JKI) and the Japan Professional Photographers Society (JPS) presents an exhibition of photographs titled "??? – IKIRU – We Survive!" to commemorate the catastrophe.

Professional and non-professional photographers have contributed to the collection of pictures. From the perspective of the victims themselves, the photographs show how the life of the people in northeastern Japan changed completely within minutes.
