Yuan Li receives the best dissertation prize from the International Society for New Institutional Economics
GRK 1613 post-doctoral scholar Yuan Li has received the best dissertation award in institutional economics by the International Society for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE). The jury was unanimous in ranking Li’s dissertation as the best from among 22 international submissions and 5 finalists, whose entire theses were read by the jury members.
The prize was initiated by four Nobel Prize Laureates – Ronald Coase, Douglass North, Oliver Williamson and Elinor Olstrom – who each donated funds from their Nobel prizes for the establishment of the award.
Li received the award in a ceremony at the June conference of the ISNIE in Los Angeles, California (pictured). Li’s dissertation is entitled Accountability in One-Party Government: Rethinking the Success of Chinese Economic Reform and was successfully defended early in 2012 at Catholic University of Milan.
