Håkan Jerker Holm, Prof. of Economics at Lund University, lectures on experimental and behavioural economics at IN-EAST
Title: Conducting experiments abroad
Wednesday, April 28, 2010, 18–20 h, in Room LE 736
The lecture consists of two main parts. The first part is an introduction to experimental and behavioral economics. In this part, different types of motivations for conducting experiments will be discussed, including some motivations given by last year’s Nobel laureate Elinor Ostrom. Different types of experiments will be mentioned as will some important results. The second part of the lecture focuses on experiences from conducting experiments in countries outside the researcher’s home country. Some general remarks on the purpose of such experiments are presented. To illustrate the research method more concretely, a description of a recently conducted experiment among 700 Chinese entrepreneurs in the Yangzi delta region is presented. Practical implications of this study and some other similar experiments will be discussed.
