Description

The Embedded Systems Engineering Master's degree unites two areas that have traditionally been regarded as separate: computer science and communications technology. Alongside in-depth lectures on electrical engineering, computer science and information technology, special lectures on data processing, information technology and communications networks will allow students to choose their own study path.

Graduates will enjoy promising career prospects in IT managerial roles or the prospect of completing a doctorate in Germany or elsewhere. Graduates therefore typically find themselves working at the interface of communications technology where computer and message technologies meet, putting such technologies to use in the development of new systems and services. Future careers may include:

  • The analysis, project planning and assessment of mobile communications and wireless information systems;
  • The design and development of new services and the integration of existing services (e.g. for communications networks, shared systems and multimedia);
  • Systems analysis and design of application systems with a high degree of processing and signal transfer (e.g. in communications networks or for process management or medical technology).

Future employers are therefore likely to be large international corporations, although graduates may also find themselves developing a freelance career, working in the SME sector as a consultant, or setting up their own company (e.g. in the area of special system solutions development).

Graduates will:

  • Develop knowledge of advanced theories;
  • Develop advanced knowledge and skills in computer technology;
  • Develop advanced knowledge and skills in messaging and communications technology;
  • Be qualified to integrate the disciplines of computer and messaging technology and will be able to pursue their preference for a commercial or academic career via their choice of electives;
  • Have an enhanced general education with advanced language skills in German or English as well as increased employability from learning team-working and communication skills.
  • Gain experience of applying scientific methods to deal independently with problems of computer engineering (or its application to another engineering discipline) within a specific timeframe, and be able to present the issues clearly.
