Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Xu Kuanhua studied German language with focus on literature, translation studies and cross-cultural studies at Wuhan University in Hubei (China). He was professor for German language studies at Wuhan University and held the office of vice-dean of the department of foreign languages at the same university. After having finished a research period in Austria, he worked as first executive secretary at the Chinese embassy in Germany from 1995 to 2000. In 2001, he accepted a two-year visiting professorship at the Chinese Center in Hannover (Germany). Since November 2009 he is one of the co-directors at the Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr in Duisburg. In the context of this position, he is responsible for the institutes' department of Chinese language and culture.
