As operator of this website, the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) is committed to protect any personal information that is collected from you via our website. All data on this website are processed in accordance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the statutory data protection regulations of the countries of the institutions headquarters.

You can use our website without leaving or storing any personal data. If we ask for personal data, we just use it for the case we asked for and for which you are granting permission to us. We do care for your data, we will never hand over your data to a 3rd party in any case.

In line with the GDPR, we will inform you in this privacy policy on what personal data is collected, for which purposes and for how long it is saved. Furthermore, we will educate you about your rights regarding your personal data we collected.

 

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

The website does not provide any contact form. In case you have any further questions regarding or beyond this privacy policy, you can contact us via the contact details given on our website. In order to provide you with answers to your questions, requests or comments, we will ask for your name and e-mail address.

The contact requests and therewith personal data are handled by UDE. In case the question would only be able to be answered by another consortiums member, they will share the request but without your personal information.

Your name, e-mail address will be stored in connection to your request until you request that we erase your personal information.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
