Anna completed her education as a lab technician (Biologielaborantin) in 2019 at Bielefeld University. Following this, she started working in the Department of Animal behaviour, where she engaged in different projects focused on the interaction of individuals with their (changing) environment. Then, for two years, she was part of the group of Translational Cardiovascular Research at the Heart and Diabetes Centre (HDZ NRW) in Bad Oeynhausen where she worked on the role of inflammation in the development of heart failure and diabetic cardiomyopathy. The techniques she mastered at the HDZ NRW included immunohistochemistry, Western Blot, ELISA, and cell culture using induced pluripotent stem cells. Anna joined the NeuroScienceLab in 2022 as part of the recently founded Network Pharmacology for Neurovascular Diseases group under the lead of Prof. Dr. Ana Casas, focusing on molecular biology and imaging techniques, i.e. immunohistochemistry, qPCR, ELISA, cell culture, and flow cytometry.
Research interests

Anna uses in vitro and in vivo methods to better understand the disease mechanisms underlying cerebral ischaemia, long-term post-stroke impairment, and related neurovascular disorders.
