Directions
Offices of both the Research Group and the Graduate Sschool are located mainly in the "Elektrogebäude" (offices "SE..."). Some offices are located in the "Laborgebäude" (offices "SL..."). There are two entrances in the courtyard.  
 
Arriving by train  
From main station Essen please take metro lines U106 or U107 in direction "Porscheplatz". Exit at the second stop "Viehofer Platz". Take the stairways in forward direction. You'll come to the surface on a traffic island. Please walk through the "Altbau" to the "Elektrogebäude". Entrances are in the courtyard.

You'll find most rooms of nwu-essen in 'Elektrogebäude' (room numbers 'SE...') or in 'Laborgebäude' (room numbers 'SL...').

foot from main station  
As an alternative you can walk from main station in 10-15 minutes along the pedestrian zone. At the end take either the pedestrian bridge across Schuetzenbahn street or take the pedestrian traffic lights at Pferdemarkt.  
 
Arriving by car  
When coming from the East on A40 take exit Essen-Frillendorf and turn onto Frillendorfer Strasse. Follow Frillendorfer Strasse up to the second traffic light, turn right into Burggrafenstrasse, then turn left at the second traffic light into Gerlingstrasse. Shortly behind the second traffic light is our office building. Park your car in the parking lot in the courtyard. If gate is closed please notify the doormen and make clear that you would like to visit professor Fischer or professor Sumfleth.  
 
When coming from the West on A40 take exit Essen Zentrum-Ost (one behind Essen Zentrum). Follow the signs to Zentrum/Universitaet. Stay on one of the center lanes. Take the underpass. Behind the underpass you'll pass under a pedestrian bridge and then turn right immediately. Change direction after ca. 150m by using the special turning lane. Park your car in the parking lot in the courtyard. If gate is closed please notify the doormen and make clear that you would like to visit professor Fischer or professor Sumfleth.  
 
When coming via A52 from Duesseldorf please take exit Essen-Sued und follow signs to Universitaet Essen (not Universitaetsklinikum). Take the underpass. Behind the underpass you'll pass under a pedestrian bridge and then turn right immediately. Change direction after ca. 150m by using the special turning lane. Park your car in the parking lot in the courtyard. If gate is closed please notify the doormen and make clear that you would like to visit professor Fischer or professor Sumfleth.
