Research Forum Lecture by Emiko Ochia, Kyoto University
Title: "Transforming familialism: care regimes in East and Southeast Asian countries since the 2000s.“
On Wednesday Prof. Emiko Ochiai, University of Kyoto and present holder of the prestigious Blaise Pascal Chair at the EHESS in Paris, will give a Guest Lecture in the Research Forum of the Graduate School Risk and East Asia, to which I would like to invite all of you.

The talk will take place in LE 736 at 12.15. The title is: "Transforming familialism: care regimes in East and Southeast Asian countries since the 2000s.“

Emiko Ochiai is a leading family sociologist and migration scholar in East Asia. She directed the Global Center of Excellence on the Reconstruction of the Intimate and Public Spheres in 21st Century Asia at the University of Kyoto and edits a book series on the topic for Brill Verlag.

Emiko Ochiai’s research is very unique in that she works closely with scholars in China, Korea and a number of South East Asian countries to engage in comparisons of East Asian societies. The topic of her lecture will be of interest to those of you working on family, social policy, migration and demographic change (both fertility and aging).

Despite the end of the semester, I hope many of you will find time to attend this special lecture.

She is available to meet with doctoral students and advanced Master students about their research in the afternoon. Kindly send me a mail by Tuesday morning if you would like to meet with Professor Ochiai about your research.
