Colloidal engineering and synthesis of complex nanoparticle entities
Vortrag von Dr. Karl Mandel, Fraunhofer ISC, Würzburg, zum Thema: "Colloidal engineering and synthesis of complex nanoparticle entities". 

Karl`s group deals with the R&D challenges of upscaling nanoparticles by means of wet-chemical bottom-up syntheses from gram to kilogram scale. Furthermore, the basic research of the group is focused on creating complex functional particle architectures from nanoparticle building-blocks.
The first part of the talk will be on the challenges and excitements that are faced upon dealing with colloidal engineering.   
The second part of the talk will be on complex particles. It will be shown how functional particles can be created from combining nanoparticle building-blocks to composite particles with different components or to particle architectures with distinct structures. In examples, a wide variety of different functional properties is shown which are, however, always based on the same building-blocks namely nano iron oxide and silica.
