Behind Weibo: Social Media in China
Zoom Talk Manya Koetse
Over a decade has passed since Weibo was launched in 2009. Since then, China’s online environment has shifted from cybercafé culture to the mobile internet era. How has social media in China developed over the past decade? What is the relevance of Weibo in China today? During this event, we will talk to Manya Koetse about the status-quo of Weibo and we'll discuss the dynamics behind China's social media, including their significance during the COVID19 crisis and its aftermath.

No fee. Registration below, open until Nov 5, 12:00h.

Koetse is a China social trend watcher and the editor-in-chief of "What’s on Weibo", an internationally well-visited website providing social, cultural, and historical insights into an ever-changing China. She is a writer and public speaker (Sinologist, MPhil) on trends & innovation in China with a focus on online media and digital developments. Koetse frequently explains and comments on the latest news relating to Chinese social media and (digital) society.
