New Developments and Applications of Kinematics in Image-Guided Radiotherapy
In image-guided radiotherapy, there are uncertainties in the position and orientation of the Clinical Target Volume (CTV) that requires margin expansion to account for them. In this talk, we will discuss recent developments of kinematics for PTV construction. Two approaches are presented, one is deterministic and the other is probabilistic. In the first approach, we use a metric that minimizes the average squared distance between all homologous points of a bounded object between two positions to develop a framework for constructing a kinematic convex hull of a set of displacements; in the second approach, we develop a dual quaternion based covariant matrix for constructing a confidence ellipsoid for a specified level of confidence. The PTVs are obtained as swept volumes of these kinematic entities. Examples based on clinical data are presented for comparison with the existing methods.

Alle Interessenten sind herzlich eingeladen.
