Jonathan Arac is Andrew W. Mellon Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh and a member of the MLA Executive Council. He is advisory editor of the forthcoming 12 volume Oxford History of the Novel in English. Arac is the author of six books, including Impure Worlds: The Institution of Literature in the Age of the Novel, and the editor or co-editor of six more volumes, including Consequences of Theory and Ralph Ellison: The Next Fifty Years.
