Web Science

In the lecture, basic media theories and methods are treated with a focus on current theoretical approaches and concepts of analysis of internet data. Furthermore, the significance of web science in different domains like economy, politics and society is approached.

In the course, the participants learn the basics of the impact and the creation of media. Participants create and present own media products in small groups.

Practical projects

Within the scope of a practical project, the students deal with a real problem and develop a suitable solution with the aid of their abilities acquired during their studies.

Practical projects with the focus on psychology aim at collecting demands as well as conducting surveys and interviews for developing and presenting fitting solutions.

Practical projects with the focus on computer science usually aim at developing a functional software prototype.

Within the practical projects, a structured project management is to be carried out by the participants.

In the seminar, theoretical concepts (eg. information diffusion, virality, network effects) as well as practical aspects in relation to corporate communication are discussed.
