Requirements

Dutch and German applicants

According to the Equivalence Treaty from 1983 between the Netherlands and Germany, Dutch and German student applicants follow the same application procedure. Dutch and German applicants are fully eligible if they fulfil the following requirements:

- a University degree (B.Sc., M.Sc., Diploma, State Examination ["Staatsexamen"]) in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Water Sciences, Landscape Ecology, Civil Engineering, Water Management, Land Management

Students holding any of the following degrees are eligible, but may need to attend extra courses prior to TWM based on a interview:

- a degree from a University of Professional Education (e.g. B.Sc., M.Sc., "Fachhochschul-Diplom", HBO diploma) in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Water Sciences, Landscape Ecology, Civil Engineering, Water Management, Land Management

Applicants who do not meet the requirements can issue an admission request to one of the Contact persons at UDE or RU.

If you wish to start in September (winter term), please contact the student advisor for the master Biology at RU. Please note that non-European applicants are charged an application fee of € 75 at RU (Study Fees).

If you wish to start in April (summer term), please send your Application form (available in the download section) to Mrs. Heike Todenhöfer at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Non-European applicants

As a Non-European student application for the summer semester 2021 is only possible at the international office.

Non-German and non-Dutch applicants

If you wish to start in April (summer term), please send your Application form (available in the download section) to Mrs. Heike Todenhöferat the University of Duisburg-Essen.

If you wish to start in September (winter term), please contact the student advisor for the master Biology at RU.

In addition, the following documents must be provided:

  • statement of motivation for studying TWM (maximum length: two pages);
  • certificates of the relevant (eligible) academic degree (copy); an English translation prepared by an officially-registered translator will be necessary in case the certificate is not in English, German or Dutch language;
  • copies of all transcripts or other academic records that give proof of the undergraduate studies including credits and grades achieved in each single subject; an English translation prepared by an officially-registered translator will be necessary in case the certificate is not in English, German or Dutch language;
  • two photographs;
  • copy of the passport;
  • copy of English language proficiency certificate(s) (see >Language skills);
  • a CV (European format)
