Open Access rights in Alliance and National Licenses

Academic libraries form joint ventures and obtain Allicance Licenses to subsribe journals, databases and e-books. These ventures are partly financed by the participating libraries and sometimes the DGF (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).

National Licences are used to aquire specific publications such as certain years of journals. They are financed 100 % by the DGF (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). Many Allicance Licenses become National Licenses after a certain period of time.

Meanwhile, the Allicance and National License contracts include several conditions to make secondary publication openly accessible via the Green Road. They contain regulations how the participants (institution and authors) are to handle certain volumes. For an overview of the respective Allicance and National Licenses, please click here.
